Representatives from University of Malaya dominated the third edition of the Chooi & Co Moot Competition held on 26th of November 2016 as Ms. Cheah Kha Mun and Mr. Saresh Mahendaren emerged as champions while Ms. Caitlin Tan Hui Yi and Ms. Liana Lim came in second with only a one point difference between the two team's final score.
The third edition of the competition this year was organized at Brickfields Asia College (BAC). Sponsored by renowned Malaysian law firm Chooi & Company, this competition was held with the aim of testing the knowledge and understanding of law students in the field of civil and criminal procedures. Previously a private universities' affair, the organizing team this year decided to extend invitations to students from public universities as well, and two teams from the Faculty of Law, University of Malaya took no chances at having a go.
Final year students Miss Cheah Kha Mun and Mr. Saresh Mahendaren formed a team, and alongside another team made up of Miss Caitlin Tan Hui Yi and Miss Liana Lim, took up the challenge amidst their busy schedules. By the end of the eventful day on 26th November 2016, their effort and sacrifice proved fruitful as both teams walked away as champions and runner-ups of the competition after competing against teams from other law schools such as UITM (MARA University of Technology) Brickfields Asia College (BAC) and Advance Tertiary College (ATC).
This one-day program not only charged no registration fee but the winning team walked away with an offer for an exclusive internship program at the prestigious Chooi & Company law firm.
