About Us

The University of Malaya Law Review is the leading student-run legal publication in Malaysia. The esteemed Law Review is exclusively run by students of the Faculty of Law with the support of the Faculty of Law, Universiti Malaya.

The Law Review was first envisioned in 2016 by the founding Editor-in-Chief, Mr Leeroy Ting. The kind mentorship of Dato’ Associate Professor Dr Johan Shamsuddin bin Hj Sabaruddin and Dr Sarah Tan Yen Ling allowed the publication to grow further.

From there, the UMLR has undergone vibrant progressions under the leadership of our Editors-in-Chief alongside our Academic Advisor, Dr Sherin Binti Kunhibava.

The Law Review's primary purpose is to publish an annual journal of legal scholarship, featuring the best works of the students of the Law Faculty, covering a wide scope of topics ranging from the study of jurisprudence to in-depth research and analysis on legal issues, to discussions about recent legal developments.

Besides the organisation's primary purpose, the Law Review also aims to compile a comprehensive database of academic reference to aid the student body in their pursuit of academic excellence, to act as the chronicler of the achievements of students from the Faculty, to raise awareness of current legal issues and provide a platform where students, academics and members of the legal fraternity can hone their critical thinking, writing and editing skills.
