The University of Malaya Law Review welcomes submissions of notes, comments, and articles on legal or jurisprudential issues.

Comment

A Comment is a piece of academic writing — considerably shorter in length compared to a Note or an Article — that is premised on an in-depth critical analysis of a prominent or recent case, legislation, legal development, and the like. The University of Malaya Law Review strongly prefers a Comment that is within the range of 2,000 to 6,000 words, excluding footnotes.

Note

A Note is a piece of academic writing that discusses and dissects an original legal issue in a more thorough and comprehensive manner, with reference to existing legal scholarship on this matter. A Note must aim to bridge the gap between existing legal scholarship and the way forward. The University of Malaya Law Review strongly prefers Notes of approximately 8,000 words, excluding footnotes.

Article

An Article is a piece of academic writing that discusses, at length, either an original legal problem or a specific prominent legal development or issue. An Article is lengthier than a Note or Comment, and the University of Malaya Law Review strongly prefers Articles of approximately 10,000 words, excluding footnotes.
